The Museum of Ancient Eleftherna
A museum inside a unique archaeological site
The Museum of Ancient Eleftherna is located next to the ancient city of Eleftherna and it is almost 25 kms southeast of Rethymno. It houses finds from the archaeological site of Eleftherna and the necropolis of Orthi Petra and consists of three halls where a history of 500 centuries is hosted. The first hall exhibits artifacts imported from places near Crete, such as Cyclades, Cyprus, Peloponnese ,etc. The second one hosts the religious life in Eleftherna and the third one is devoted to the necropolis of Orthi Petra, presenting burial customs of Homeric Years.
