Preveli Monastery, Beach & Lagoon
The Monastery of Preveli is located in a beautiful nature setting on the south coast of Crete, having an incredible sea view. It developed as a religious and cultural centre over the years. It was destroyed several times, but was always rebuilt. It is known for the Holy Cross which is said to be miraculous. The monastery is open to visitors.
Preveli Beach & Lagoon
Preveli beach and lagoon is situated below the monastery. It is the place where the Kourtalios river and Kourtaliotiko gorge end. Behind the beach and along the river, visitors have the opportunity to admire the palm tree forest, which gives the place an exotic aspect. As far as the beach is concerned, it is sandy with clear, crystal waters.
